A museum dedicated to mountaineering has been opened by famous climber Reinhold Messner. Located in the Italian mountain plateau of South Tyrol, it's Messner's sixth museum.

Sat atop Mount Kronplatz, MMM Corones is museum described as the climber's "15th ascent over 8,000 metres". It tells stories of man's encounters with the mountains and also features photos, objects and tools from Messner's life as a climber.

The museum's main appeal is its location and sleek design. Offering a 240 panoramic view of the Dolomites, it was a collaboration between Messner and Zaha Hadid, an Iraqi-British architect.
